Biography
Dr. Njideka Rita Chiekezie (Mrs) started her early education at Women Training College (W.T.C) primary School Enugu and because of her outstanding abilities in academics,.
she got enrolled into Federal Government Girls’ College, Kazaure then in Kano State where she passed out in flying colors and proceeded to study Agricultural Economics and Extension at the prestigious Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State. In a quest to broaden her knowledge and experience in the other fields of studies, She obtained a post graduate diploma, Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and a Doctor of Philosophy Ph.D all in accountancy at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. In addition, She holds a Masters Degree (M.Sc) in Agricultural Economics and Extension from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University and currently, rounding off an additional Doctorate Degree in Agricultural Economics and Extension of the same University. Her laurels in education is worthy of emulation and a very great asset to the students, staff and the society at large.
She started her Lecturing career in the defunct Department of Accountancy, Faculty of Management Sciences, St. Paul’s University, Awka (An affiliate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka) in 2002 before she transferred to the erstwhile Anambra State College of Agriculture via Ministry of Agriculture. On arrival to the College, she was made the Co-ordinator, Planning, Research and Statistics (PRS) Unit; Member, College Board Secretariat; Member, Senior Staff disciplinary Committee; Member, Academic Planning Unit. She was the Co-ordinator of Anambra State Agricultural Training Centre (ATC), Mgbakwu. She has been a resource person for many training programmes, seminars and workshops including Poverty Reduction Acceleration Investment (PRAI) training organized by Anambra State under the Millennium Development Goals programme
In 2017, she was appointed the Deputy Rector of Anambra State Polytechnic, Mgbakwu and in 2021 she was made the Polytechnic desk officer in the TETFUND grant scheme. She was appointed the Ag. Rector of the Polytechnic in July 2022, Under her leadership, with less than one year in office the Institution has witnessed a colossal turnaround with considerable infrastructural development, staff welfare enhancement and academic prosperity. Her unique leadership style is exceptional and commendable. Her idea of human capital development which revolves around “you too can do it and even better” is laudable. Dr. Chiekezie possesses an unconstrained aspiration to seek for and transfer knowledge. She has successfully supervised over 100 undergraduate students’ projects and presently runs a research training programme for all categories of students. She has published in many reputable local and international journals and has three published books. She is a member of several professional bodies including the National Association of Agricultural Economist (NAAE). She has equally received many awards including a special recognition from the Institute of Human and Natural resources (IHNR). Dr. Njideka Chiekezie is the Head of the Hospitality Department for several years in her place of worship and also supportive to her husband in his ministerial assignment. She is a great mentor, counselor and her protégés have grown to become great men and women in the society.
